Letter from Troy Swittenberg

My experience with the L.E.A.P. program exceeded my expectations from start to finish. We were provided with a complete itinerary 12 months in advance, detailing everything from preparation to our return home from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The process was highly organized yet never overwhelming.

Throughout the year, we had several meetings to build continuity between mentees, mentors, and their families. For example, we gathered at the World Affairs location to hear testimonials from past participants, engage with world dignitaries who sponsored the program, register for our travel visas, and even experience authentic Ivorian cuisine.

The transition from preparation to execution was seamless, making the entire journey stress-free. I would rate my experience a 10 out of 10!

It’s remarkable what the organization has accomplished in such a short time. The senior leadership and Board of Directors continuously push for better opportunities, ensuring the foundation's sustainability for the future. This is a well-run organization that leads by example and is truly making a difference in the lives of young people.

This experience has not only impacted my life but also the lives of my children. All three of them; two sons and one daughter, have been mentees in the KB Foundation. Seeing the positive results firsthand has been incredibly rewarding, knowing that their time in the program was meaningful and transformative.

They still talk about their experiences, from my daughter attending GLAMP Camp to my sons participating in the Boys Camp during the summer. One of the most unforgettable moments was flying across the Atlantic with my son as part of the L.E.A.P. Program, immersing ourselves in a foreign culture.

I’ve experienced a lot in life, but the opportunities and growth I’ve gained through this program surpass anything I’ve ever done or anywhere I’ve ever been. My perspective on guiding and mentoring young people, from pre-teens to young adults, has been forever changed. Thank you, KB Foundation, for giving me the opportunity to give back.
